I like this line. Checking gives your opponents the choice to check behind when they are beaten, and bet when they have the straight. However they are both unlikely to raise you without a hand that beats yours, so it is safe to fold if either raises.

As for AK, I'd bet the turn again, and check the river. Calling would be read dependent in some situations, but I can't see an overcall being profitable so I'd recommend folding the river if you'd held AK.
