I agree with jmack -- Dr. Strangelove with the Vera Lynn song "We'll meet again" playing over a nuclear apocolypse was pretty damn awesome.

Interestingly, this is the third nomination for a Kubrick film. I guess he must have known something about directing

At the end of LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN, The hero has just found his girlfriend in the kitchen in the arms of his best friend kissing,he turns away and drives off in his car, with tears rolling down his eyes and the song JUST ONCE playing, the credits roll.

I think this is the best use of a song ever.

This thread is surprisingly good, so many great nominees. Fight Club, Real Genius, Dr. Strangelove, and Apocalypse Now all really good ones.

Good call. A pretty heartwrenching ending.

I'd also like to nominate "Livin' Thing" by ELO at the end of "Boogie Nights". [ QUOTE ]

Is Magnolia the one where they all sing an Amy Mann song at the end?

Would it be lame to nominate "I Believe (When I Fall In Love With You It Will Be Forever)" from ~High Fidelity~?

The song they all sing is Aimee Mann's "Wise Up", but I recall it playing before the "raining frogs" scene.

Fight Club - "Where Is My Mind?"
Casino - "House of the Rising Sun"
Goodfellas - "My Way" - Sex Pistols / Johnny Rotten version. Pure genius.
