Dare I attempt... The sexy?
I had to try one.
Villain is a TAG. Party 5/10 6-max (6-handed) Hero has Red Jacks in the BB. PREFLOP: UTG folds, MP limps, TAG CO raises, button folds, SB calls, Hero 3-bets, MP calls, CO calls, SB calls. FLOP: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB checks, Hero bets, MP calls, CO raises, SB folds, Hero 3-bets, MP folds, CO calls. TURN: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero bets, CO calls. RIVER: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero checks... |

Re: Dare I attempt... The sexy?
I don't think I like it.
Villain just called the last couple of bets. If villain is a TAG - and presumably noticed that you're a TAG - then he might well be suspicious and check behind. But he might call with a lower boat. |

Re: Dare I attempt... The sexy?
This is good. He pretty much always has a J here. And if he doesn't have a J, he has T9, so it's still good.

Re: Dare I attempt... The sexy?
I like this one. He's a TAG, he probably value bets any hand he's calling with, and he isn't folding to the check-raise either.

Re: Dare I attempt... The sexy?
I don't see how the 4 would scare you. (Thinking from villain's perspective here.) What hand would you play the flop and turn this way and suddenly back off when the river puts trips on the board?
Not only that, how good is this TAG? Would he fold to a C/R? You may not gain anything more by C/R-ing. Just my thoughts - this is much higher than I usually play, so I could be way off. |

[/ QUOTE ] TT/99. Overplayed overcards maybe? It doesn't really matter. The beauty of this one is it takes full advantage of the fact that 99% of the tags in this game will mindlessly value bet any J without giving any consideration to Hero's hand and then mindlessly call a raise with it, almost every single time. |

[/ QUOTE ] Then I guess my different view is based upon a different interpretation of what OP meant by calling him a TAG. I was assuming a player who does NOT mindlessly bet the river, and pays attention to hero's hand. But if your description is closer to what OP meant, then it looks good to me too. |
