6max-bet this river with middle pair?

BB is a little loose and a little passive

Hero raises, folded around to BB who calls

Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls

Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls

River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
BB checks, Hero checks

I was considering bet/fold, but went with the check behind instead.

check is good imo. u will be chopping or betting into somebody with a better hand a lot of the time if he calls.

And bet the flop. And the turn. Check the river

I'd bet the river. You'll get paid off by a weaker J, smaller pocket pair. He doesn't have an Ace that often, and I don't mind folding to a check/raise.

There is no weaker J, the board has paired.

Check the river most of the time. The spade draw came in and low pair turned into trips. If you see BB calling down with pocket pairs a lot, go ahead and bet but this mostly a check.

exactly. the two most likely hands he has that will call a river bet are those that include jacks or aces. based purely on number of cards in the deck, he is more likely to have an ace.

he will check raise you with a flush, and he will check fold the many hands that could have had gutshots on this flop.

Excellent, I was thinking correctly. And after looking over the rest of the hands, I wasn't donking around as much as I thought. I do need to get more aggressive on the flops that miss me though.
