Default reason to argue for ID in the US?

it was sugested I cross post here from the philosophy forum:

"Because the quicker and more effective the spread of ID in the US the more likely the US economy will decline as it slips into a mini-dark age and so the rest of the more rational world will propsper more than otherwise."

Read the Amicus Curiae briefs and last years SCOTUS decision for Hiibel v. Nevada to dispel your first assumption.

The point appears to be that the right-wingers want to turn this country back to the dark ages, and that if they succeed it will be bad for the US economy and good for the economies of other nations.

Personally, I think we have enough ID in the US now. I mean, I got my SSN, my DL, my AARP, my casino cards, my Medicare card, my Med Ins card, my phone card, my library card, my grocery store frequent shopper cards, my hardware store frequent shopper cards, my bank debit cards... f**k it I'm not goin' inta my wife's purse and/or wallet - I rest my case. I do not need anymore ID! You can't tell who tha hell I am - tuff!

Damn! They're on to us! Seriously though, ID is not as widely believed (even among the right) as the you or the OP might claim. In fact, the majority of the country does not believe in evolution. If that means we're in the "dark ages", then I guess the "dark ages" aren't so bad.

I think we're talking about intelligent design, not identification. But I'm not really sure, the OP was pretty vague.

The majority of the country thinks the Earth revolves around the moon too. I would hardly look to the "majority of the country" to validate a scientific theory.

And thanks to ID, being a Kansas Biology teacher is the #3 suckiest job in science.

The same thing could be said about Freud's Id. In which case the liberals would at fault for the darkages.

I don't understand how you get your effects from, they don't really match up with your causes.

Why do you think the spread of ID would lead to a dark age?

Why do you think that a decline in the US Economy would lead to prosperity anywhere else?
