Default Atlantic City: Where\'s the best place for small stakes NL?

I'll be going to AC with my brother in law and a bunch of friends in a about two weeks. Assuming they don't ask for ID (do they do that much?), I'll want to play NL Hold'em. I'm 20, with about 4 months go for my bday, so I hope my trip is n't spoiled because of that. I'll want to play 0.50/1 or 1/2. I might go for 2/4 if the mood strikes me.

And by "best" I mean the most comfortable setting and soft villains. Where is it easiest to get a seat without waiting for a long time? Also, all the casinos offer free booze, right?

Thanks.

I played at Caesar's on Sunday, 1-2NL. Minimum buy-in was $60 and max was $300. It was a mix of solid players and beginners. The poker room at Caesar's is new (opened this summer). Each table has a built-in card shuffler, allowing you to see more hands per hour.

1-2NL is the lowest I've seen. Trump Taj, Borgata, and Tropicana have nice poker rooms as well. Lots of beginners at 1-2NL. Just observe for an orbit or two. You'll spot them.

Good luck.

Oh man.

1) There is no .50/1 no limit in any casino in AC. 1/2 is the lowest you will find anywhere. Most 1/2NL games in AC have a 300 max buy-in, so you will be severely shortstacked if you buy in for the minimum.

2) Don't go until you are 21. A lot of bad things can happen. AC is beginning to crack down on underage players, and young kids playing 1/2NL are very, very suspicious. Unless you look like your are 25, just wait the four months.

3) DO NOT order alcohol. You might get away with playing underage, but ordering drinks is pushing it. If you get caught doing it, not only will you get thrown out and lose your chips, but you could face penalties for trying to drink underage too.

4) If you have a fake, make sure it is a VERY good fake. The penalties for getting caught with a fake are severe.

Now, I hope you don't think I'm some adult who's against underage gambling. I'm in the exact same boat as you. I turn 21 in December and I've been dying to get down there since I only live an hour away. But my buddies have been playing all summer there, and have warned me constantly about not playing. AC's fun trick is to card you when you cash out your chips, and if you don't have ID, they just take them from you. Ouch! You're best bet is to just wait the four months and play legally.

If you are under 21, there's an underage gambling club a few blocks behind the Taj.

Beware of the kid in the blue shirt. He looks like he's been playing for three days straight, but it's all an act; I've played with him, he is a shark.

ive been playing at the taj for about a year now (started when i was 18) and have never been carded and i look kind of young for my age. just be personanble and dont act shady. my first time at the taj i walked right up to one of the floor directors and told her i just turned 21 and didnt know the setup at the casino and she didnt even think to card me. so just dont act shady and youll be fine.

however, if you end up making over 1,000 cash out for half and like 20 minutes later go back and cash out the other 500. the first time i cashed out for more than 1,000 they asked me for id but i talked my way out of it

Yeah, I forgot to mention that the Taj is by far your best bet. Absolutely stay away from the Borgata and Trop if you are playing underage.

My friends and I were at the Taj a couple weeks ago. One of my buddies is 20, and all he did was bring along another friends ID (he doesn't even look that much like him). Chances are you'll have to show some form of ID once or twice if you play at the Taj, but any ID will probably be fine. They hardly even glanced at the IDs when they checked ours. Good luck.

I do look over 21, I think I'll just go there unshaven so I don't look too clean cut or something. I'll definitely play at the Taj then.

Thanks guys.
