Re: The Wynn poker room is pretty but I am unhappy with the floor.
Katherine isn't very cool, but Cathleen is uber helpful. She seems genuinely interested in getting players into the room.

Re: The Wynn poker room is pretty but I am unhappy with the floor.
Okay, I am back home now. I will defer to the majority of the board that this is the proper way to handle a must move but it seems wrong that I played over three hours mostly short handed and all the sudden, I may or may not have a seat.
There was immediate seating in the $15-30 game when I arrived but that is bigger than I have ever played. I have to guard against being a NIT so this might be an area that needs work but if I am giving them action, and am willing to play at a short table, they should make an effort to keep me playing. I was tired and had taken some interesting beats so it may have a bigger impact on me than if I was up. I will am sticking with my decision not to give them any more action. I played a little at the Bellagio and next trip I will try to play at the Mirage. I was suprised to see that all the poker rooms I played at in Vegas (except the Bellagio) struggled to keep a game higher than $4-8 full. I expected much higher limits and more game selection. I would submit for your consideration that if most of the card rooms can't keep a game full higher than $3-6 then $8-16 is a higher limit than most seem to believe. |

I can play $10-20 anytime I want and there is usually a list. I have a small sample size but unless you like $3-6, you have more game selection and more action here in Southern Indiana.

[/ QUOTE ] Most cardrooms in Vegas don't WANT games higher than 4-8 b/c they don't want poker to affect their pit action (this philosophy is held by a number of casino owners). There are two casinos in Vegas who always have mid limit available...they are Bellagio and Mirage. Mirage always has 20-40 and sometimes 40-80 (as well as 10-20). Bellagio always has 15-30 and 30-60 and usually 80-160. Atlantic City is the same way...there are many rooms but only two with bigger games. Taj with 10-20, 15-30, 20-40 24-7 (higher on weekends usually). Borg with 10-20, 20-40, 40-80 all the time, 80-160 most of the time. Other cardrooms spread lower. That said, 8-16 is not "low limit" in my mind. It is higher than the vast majority of amateurs want to play. I just think it is a conscious decision on a casino's part whether they want mid and high stakes games...places like Bellagio feel it brings enough high rollers in the door to warrant it (and gives the casino a lot of publicity). Places like Flamingo have a small room just to generate foot traffic which will hopefully translate into more pit action. Jeff |

And Katherine is the worst floorperson in the city. It's a shame because she (Katherine) really doesn't fit in with the rest of the staff due to her atrocious attitude towards the customers. |

Vegas is fun and we always go to Sedona Arizona and other places of interest when we are out west.

Re: The Wynn poker room is pretty but I am unhappy with the floor.
I agree about both, fortunetly I play almost exclusively late at night and mostly experience Cathleen and Jeff.
I like Jeff just fine as well and have never found himto be a pain, that could be because I'm usually playing 15/30 not being obnoxious and drunk and donking around in the 4/8 Crazy Pinapple8 game. |
