Blind Man\'s Bluff
Mirage 20-40. Tommy raises a nonfolding and nonsilent man in black without looking at his cards. Everyone else folds.
Flop comes Queen high and man in black checks to Tommy who bets without looking at his cards. Man in black folds and Tommy wins the pot. Dealer asks Tommy if he wants to see the hand and Tommy says "no". Friend of the man in black quips " wow, he raised it without looking, he bet it without looking and he won it without looking". Man in black is silent and folds the next hand. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] |

"Dealer asks Tommy if he wants to see the hand and Tommy says 'no'."
The dealers at the Mirage talk way, way too much. |

As dealers, they have seen a ton of hands and have a good deal of expertise in this area.

Re: Blind Man\'s Bluff
Let's assume, for the sake of discussion, that Tommy was joking around. That everybody at the table was joking around. That Tommy made a big deal out of not looking at this cards. And everyone had a good laugh when the guy folded. (Again, this is just a supposition for the sake of dicussion; I know nothing of the hand other than that which Babe posted.)
Dealers should be instructed that they are to remain professional and just do their job no matter the degree of jocularity at the table. The dealer should mark the cards and deal the next hand. The only acceptable thing to say would be "thank you" if toked. Let's say, again for the sake of discussion, that the other guy didn't know Tommy didn't look and only learned of it after the dealer asked Tommy if he wanted to see his cards. It's no concern of the dealer's if Tommy looked or not. Muck and deal. Fortunately, it was Tommy and the response to whether he wanted to see the hand was a Tommyesque "no." |
