Two Pair gets killed HU on river
Villain is LPP, VPIP about 60%. I bet the river here because he could easily be holding worse than a pair of 7s, mediocre as they now are, and could have missed a draw and fold/payoff with J high. I don't like checking here because against this player I would probably have to call a bet getting 5/1 on having the best hand, though there is a chance it could get checked through. Would anyone play this differently against this type of player?

Re: Two Pair gets killed HU on river
Check calling is alot better than betting, I think check folding is best.
You say your reason for betting is he might fold a busted draw or fold or call with a pair of jacks? He's never folding a pair of jacks. |

Re: Two Pair gets killed HU on river
I meant he may call with something like J high, K high etc (though he obviously can't have J high here). Having reconsidered though I agree that checking and hoping for a free showdown was probably best here, and calling a bet if it comes. What about against a tight player?

Re: Two Pair gets killed HU on river
Checking might also induce a bluff, although I don't think he bluffs enough to be good here. He's more likely to bluff K high than call with it though, which is why I like check calling rather than betting if you are going to put another bet in.
By tight do you mean someone who might fold a hand you beat? I don't see it. He's also not calling down with something you beat and probably not bluffing something you beat, so more reason to check fold against a tightie. |

Re: Two Pair gets killed HU on river
I'd much rather bet/fold then check/call or check/fold against these kinda donkeys...and btw, bad beat posts suck

Re: Two Pair gets killed HU on river
I don't think A high or worse is calling down at 1/2 10 handed when he's faced agression every single street.

Re: Two Pair gets killed HU on river
Check/fold the river. What happened on the previous streets is irrelevant - your hand is now worth less than a dried up dog turd. I don't know what he's calling you down with, but most of the time I expect it to be better than what you have right now.
