I'm on a massive, massive downswing, so I may be posting more hands than usual.

This situation has been coming up a lot lately, and I think I finally got it right.

Unknown Button open-raises, I 3-bet in the BB w/ 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], he calls, it's the two of us on the flop.

Flop is A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I bet, he raises, I fold.

I fold 99 offsuit. I prefer my pocket pairs suited.

In the absence of a read to the contrary, that line looks fine to me.

A read. He would have to be pretty either a pretty loose steal raiser who missed the flop or a weak tight player capable of folding a better hand.
