I haven't seen "Fargo," but I've certainly heard enough about it. In rural areas of Minnesota, there are people who have that kind of an accent. It is distinctly upper midwest, but yeah, it's Scandinavian in origin.

I spent a few years in Boston, and I have that accent down pat, but I can't do the Minnesoohta thing, despite years of trying.
