Re: getting ahead of myself.
Somebody give me some strong discussion on preflop and the turn. I would play both of those streets diferently for sure.
I think its a river call and its not close. 3-betting would be silly. Folding against a fairly unknown who is pretty aggro would be ridiculous. |

Re: getting ahead of myself.
it seems to me that when the sb coldcalls an early raise in a higher limit online ring game, they have AQ 90% of the time.

Re: getting ahead of myself.
I am extremely interested in the turn raise.
Can you please discuss your thought process? Is there really a good chance SB has a hand that you can fold out? Are you trying to push UTG off the best hand? Even if you do that, you might have the third best made hand now and SB might pay you off unless a spade comes. I really want to hear your thought process. I am also interested in your decision to not three-bet the flop. The river seems like an uninteresting bet/call to me given the player read. |

Re: getting ahead of myself.
i like the turn raise. its too possible that the preflop opener is on a pair above 9s and below As that he will fold to the raise. the sb could be on a draw or even fold an ace (unlikely of course). i really dont think the sb will be 3betting the turn on you very often, and if he does then it should be a very safe fold on the river unimproved only costing you an extra bet.
i think you have to call the river. as others have mentioned it doesnt make alot of sense for him to have a hand that caught that river card other than AQ or QQ which are both. unless he for some reason decided to just call the turn and checkraise the river with a set you should be ahead here. the sb should find you checking behind on the river a good portion of the time in a situation like this where you have the opportunity to drive player out, so smoothcalling a set here looks really bad. |

Re: getting ahead of myself.
His hand screams AQ preflop and the river. I don't like the turn raise.

Re: getting ahead of myself.
.. call and expect to see AQ and then wonder why I didn't fold when I do see AQ. However, I then persuade myself that he won't now try to bluff c/r me on the river, so that's OK then.

i call. i think an argument can be made for 3-betting, but if he caps you're cooked. [/ QUOTE ] I would be really impressed if you can make an argument for 3 betting. Generally here, since you havent played with him much, you should probably call. However, once you get some hands against this, i suspect you will find you can profitably fold this against him. I believe i played against him in the 50 the other night, he seemed solid, i dont see him doing this with worse hands. |

Re: getting ahead of myself.
I don't like the turn raise here either. I don't think I'm very likely to be ahead- I'd rather just go for an overcall and try to make my flush or 3 9s.
