Default Suggested tournament structure?

A friend of mine would like input as to what structure (rounds, blinds, etc.) he should use to meet the following criteria:

-no limit
-15 to 20 players
-500 starting chips
-total time of about 2.5 hours

Thanks in advance.

you can try www.homepokertourney.com

Or as a rule of thumb the tourney will end around or before when the big blind is 1/10th the total chips in play. Therefore if he has 20 players w/ T500, then the tourney will end on or before at the $1000 big blind level.

From there you can work backwards....

500 starting chips with up to 20 players, eh? Alright, so there's 10 grand in play:

5/10
10/20
15/30
20/40
COLOR IN $5 CHIPS
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200 (25 ante)
150/300 (50 ante)
200/400 (50 ante)
BREAK COLOR IN $25 CHIPS
300/600 (100 ante)
400/800 (100 ante)
500/1000 (200 ante)

run the levels about 10-15 minutes each. Hope this helps!
