Re: Hellmuth at main event

On TV, it looked like the guy wanted to(and was very capable of) snapping Hellmuth in half. Did you get a sense at the time this could've come to blows? [/ QUOTE ] While Hellmuth is probably a pvssy, he is actually pretty big, at least 6'4". |

Re: Hellmuth at main event
I think mostly it just churned Phil that he got knocked out by a complete meathead...
That guy's call of the all in with JT off was suspect at best. Phil smelled blood in the water, set up his fish perfectly and it slipped away. The guy was too stupid to even realize he had been set up. You can't compare it to the AQ vs AJ hand either as far less money was involved. Too top it off he gets knocked of by Magriel with the off to the races comment, i'm sure Phil was in a rage for the rest of the day as it must of felt like he got beat playing poker versus a table of retards. |

Re: Hellmuth at main event
Phil might have been glad to not have to sit next to Magriel any longer.
Magriel was great as Robert the Bruce's father in Braveheart. |

Like, almost freakishly tall. I do feel for him though. I admit I get pissed at home games when I lose $20-$30 on a bad suckout when I set someone up so well and even put them on a hand perfectly. But for Phil, this is his life goal, not to mention that he's losing much more than just 20 bucks. Not that it's really an excuse, but it's stuff like this that makes Phil my favorite player |

Re: Hellmuth at main event
Phil called the guy a "donkey" on live TV. I don't know what's better in life.

Re: Hellmuth at main event
Actually, you CAN knock a guy for telling the truth. It's a childish, classless thing to criticize someone else's play at the table--even when the TRUTH is the person got extremely lucky. What's even worse, Hellmuth had the nerve earlier in the broadcast to lecture another player on "proper etiquette." (Someone had asked to see a showed hand.)
He's an amazing player. But he's got the manners and sportsmanship of an 8-year-old. That's why it's great to see people suck out on him. |
