Have you noticed the extreme lack of value bets in this show....Especially last nights episode.

And stack management, I have JJ, K on board and push all in early in a tournament....

But then again, it's entertainment, not a documentary on how to play poker.

The replay was on one of the TV's at a bar I was at last night with the closed-captioning.

The kid was all jittery and I noticed he had 3 different computers (with 3 seperate mouses...or mice??) for his tables.

In the little interview with him he claimed to do "2000 or even 3000 hands PER WEEK!" (if I read the captioning
correctly).

I informed my girlfriend that this is roughly the equivilent of claiming to be a big drinker and then bragging about having 2 or maybe even 3 whole beers in a single night.

I couldn't stop laughing.

She made the observation that the internet-kid needed some make-up BAD.

I want to say that the little temper-tamtrum when he lost to Eddie's higher 2-pair was unrealistic....but it seems they got that part all too correct.

Seidel must be pretty freaking embarassed to be a part of this thing.

2 things pissed me off more:

1. with 3 diamonds on the board and top 2 pair, eddie made no attempt to protect his hand. I don't know NL but slowplaying there seems incredibly stupid
2. some guy called off all his chips with JJ on a Kxy board

I saw some guy do that today at the Party 1000 No Limit table and he was limp reraised preflop to boot.

Edit, some guy just did it again at a $5+1 tourney I'm playing at work.

I just watched it right now and paused it when they showed him playing the 3 tables of poker simultaneously.

The first two monitors on the left are from Doyle's Room / VC skin. However he's not actually doing anything because the same animation / hands are being played exactly on the two monitors. The only difference is the hand is about two seconds behind on the second monitor.

I can't make out the site on the third monitor exactly, but it looks to be another VC skin. Also, even though he has action buttons on the screen no hands are face up and only one hand has been folded face down. Odd.

Don't forget, he even has the added stack of chips on the side so he can practice chip shuffling.

I'm not sure what the stack sizes are, but I agree that these overbets are pretty rediculous.

With Eddie's hand, when the turn 9 came it completed a straight and a flush yet he still pushes and gets called all in on the river. His "tell" only told him his opponent has a strong hand which could be anything from a straight, flush, set, or two pair. Ironically his opponent holds the only possible strong hand he could beat.

But yeah, I watch Tilt purely for entertainment and don't take it too seriously. If people like to think internet players are a bunch of fuggin idiots, it's not that bad of an image. It might help get more fish into sea. It's certainly better than alluding to the fact that everyone cheats at poker to win.

MD: I can't comment on how internet players react in live games, but it surprises me a bit. I thought people only table coached / ranted only because they were protected by internet anonymity and it was less of an occurence live.

His tell, if I recall correctly, was that he WASN'T strong because he wasn't tapping as opposed to earlier when he was tapping and was strong. Thus Eddie put him on a weak hand.

I think the whole show is embarrasing....every freaking episode that I have watched that is just too weird. The whole concept is too weird...best poker player in town is mobbed up, runs casino, kills people. When does he have time to play? Why don't they just whack him if they want to get even. It's hardly about poker at all.

Yeah.
I've wondered this as well.
Can't Miami and Clark just get a gun?

Why did Nickel put down $8k (which was obviously meaningful to him) to play in a game where he knew his brother was cheated?

do they really think that Lowball is just going to say "oh well...I got fired. too bad" and then run-away?

Do you really need 3 computers to play on 3 different computers?

does a multi-millionaire champion poker-player need any other kind of advantages?

If the World Poker Championships are held at the Colorado each year and is televised why are they a bunch of cheating punks who can't get anybody worthwhile to play there?

Is Eric Seidel getting phone-calls from his friends congratulating him on his splendid acting performance?
Incredibly, the brief cameo's by the actual players is probably the best acting and most realistic aspects of the show.

The alternate reality of this universe is just too freaking weird.

Also - They haven't been promoting this show nearly as much lately. I think ESPN is kinda giving up on it just because it's so idiotic. Don't know what the ratings are for it though....but I will be surprised if they actually renew it for a 2nd season.
