Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
What is your plan on the river if he calls? Bet a non-spade, check a spade? If he bets again on the river then what?
I normally raise the flop and fold to a raise on the turn. Is that a bad idea? |

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
guess you put him on a flush draw. nevermind his other possible hands.

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
that's probably how I'd play it, taking a free showdown

Raising here for a "free" showdown?

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
Is my line bad because your goal should be seeing a showdown?

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
Trying to improve my HU play...here's my thinking, right or wrong...
I definitely want to show this hand down, and I'm way ahead or way behind here, right? Won't my raise fold a worse hand and get 3-bet by a better one? Unless the guy is a passive calling station, but here he's unknown. I would normally just call this down...am I way off? |

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
not saying I know how to handle this one, but "I'm way ahead or way behind here" might not be the case if he's semi-bluff betting a flush draw with an ace, for example.
I guess you have to mix up [raising the flop, bet-folding the turn, and checking behind on the river] with [calling the flop, raise-folding the turn and checking behind on the river], both with K hands and hands like this. is there a "standard" line here that universally would apply without a read? (and I mean something as standard as the check-call check-call bet line) |

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
This line is best versus a flush draw.
Versus other hands, however -- who you'd like to keep in, if ahead, or get to showdown cheaply, if behind -- it seems that a better line is calling down or waiting till the river to raise. The river raise is probably fine as a single K will be unlikely to 3-bet; otoh, I don't like missing a showdown here or calling a 3-bet. Which is an argument for calling down, which, to return to the beginning, is a crappy line versus a flush draw. On balance, I think I like it. gm |
