I'd push, but this looks like it's at the $55s plus so I don't really know what I'm talking about.

I'd push as well, and reraise preflop.

I don't know. Facing a 6+ x BB raise from early position, and a caller, the SB is practically pot committing himself here, but without going all-in. Looks like he wants a call. You're praying it's AK here. JJ or 10 10 would surely have just pushed it if they were gonna play. If he had gone all-in, I'd feel better about calling. I think I would reluctantly lay 'em down. It is very early and you've still got 90% of your stack.

Agreed, unless SB is nuts, best case is a coinflip. And even then, solid AK play is to go all in. I've never had the fortitude to fold in this situation, but I've wished I had many many times.

Edit: Oh yeah, why are you just calling UTG here? This actually makes SB's play not so strong. He could even be trying a Harrington squeeze play here. I was thinking you raised some reasonable amount.

I couldn't lay these down.

Obviously first hand without any reads is tough.

Is SB trying to pull of a squeeze play? Did you look him up?

Edit: i'd have reraised this personally

I folded, had no reads on villain.
Later on in the tourney he said unprovoked that he had AA.

Nice. There are some times you KNOW he's got AA-KK. IE - if you had made it 300 and he made it 500. I hate that feeling. But here, with you just calling, it doesn't seem so clear cut to me.

Edit: Then again, if he didn't show AA, not sure if I'd put 100% faith in that.

As a general rule, I never believe anything anyone says about their hands at the poker table unless they show their hand.

I believed him in this instance because of the circumstances he said it.
About 30 minutes later in the tourney, he said something like "god, i get AA 1st hand and then nothing since."
