I think bet/call is best. You might then lead on the river again especially if you can fold to a raise. But I like it in general even if you're going to call a raise. A lot of these types will make a play on the turn and then check the river if they can't get you to fold. Especially if they see you as tight.

Check and raise is just begging to get a) checked through and piss glass, b) 3-bet and piss glass, c) fold a hand that you want to call and piss glass. Bet and 3-bet is similairly painful if you get capped and have to call this yahoo down but is not horrible imo. Check-call is giving this guy way to much credit.
