Default Catchy title

5/10 6-handed. I'm SB with 1000 behind and Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG+1 and CO limp (both have me covered), I complete, BB checks.

Flop J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] with 40 in the pot.

I bet 35, BB makes it 70. He's fairly loose-passive, but not a really terrible player. Other guys fold. I make it 210, he calls.

Turn 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] with 460 in the pot.

This card isn't really cool. I have about 750 left. What should I do here?

In the actual hand I played it really poorly, but I was pondering something else that I decided not to go with (I am indecisive). After the hand, I thought about it some more and I think my second plan is much better. I'd like to see how many people come up with the same idea as I did.

I would bet 250 and fold to raise, which is what you prob did and regretted.

Are you thinking you should have c/r all in on turn?

You think he's in this pot with a flush draw??
That's a pretty big call to be making on the flop unless he's got
9cxc, I wouldn't expect it without a read.

As it stands... however that is still a really bad card for you, since it killed your action completely, unfortunately giving away a free card here would be brutal, though. If he's really passive, put in a nice value bet of say $300 or so and fold to a raise.

The only other move I can think of would be to move with a big overbet, representing a bluff at a scare card if you really think he can make a call like that, but you have to have some pretty good Shania for that to work.

Going for a checkraise on the turn gives him a chance to take a free card. If he has a set or two pair or some sort of top pair + big club then we are letting him have a chance to beat us for free and he also will get to see the showdown for just one more bet instead of his whole stack. So that's two things that suck about checking to him. Especially considering the read that he is passive.

This is what I did and regretted. I think checkraise all-in is much better. If he has a straight or a flush, I think we get in either way, but he may fold two pair or possibly even a set if I bet out. If I checkraise, he's trapped for the extra 300 or whatever he bets and may have to call depending on pot odds. It's possible that he checks behind, but a lot of players at this level don't think like that and just bet if you show weakness. I think it's pretty likely that he'll bet if I check.
