Been to any good concerts lately?

Saw Beck last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Great music venue...great concert. His band is really talented, and he had a DJ from Japan that spun DVDs on a big screen along with the beat.

Also saw Coldplay recently, pretty good, but nothing compared to last night.

Interested to hear others recent concert experiences...

saw built to spill two nights ago. good show, but not as good as other bts shows i have been too.

some of the new stuff from their upcoming album sounded solid though.

as usual doug marsch was completely ridiculous on guitar.

im going to see holopaw tomorrow night.

Tough to explain...there were just a lot of images on the screen all being woven into each other. The images included buildings and signs, as well as just patterns of different colors. I don't know the technical details, but I think he had 6 - 8 DVD players going with all of these different images, and would spin them (don't know how) and the images projected and moved to the beat. For instance, a dark sound would have dark colors, energetic songs bright colors, etc. It was a show in itself.

Tons. Last night I saw Sufjan Stevens do an 'unplugged' performance at Symphony Space - Thalia Theatre, probably 120-150 people, basically a very small movie theatre. Extremely powerful stuff, where he played mostly Seven Swans stuff and a few of the slower Illinois/Michigan songs.

Also seen Minus The Bear/These Arms are Snakes lately and they always rock your [censored] sucks off.

I'll go totally anti-indie music and say that I saw the Foo/Weezer show. It was the first time I'd seen Foo - Grohl is a rock star. They blew the roof off. I went in thinking I liked Weezer more, but FF was 10x better. (Not that Weezer was bad.)

Saw the Dry Branch Fire Squad last weekend at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. Great, great bluegrass band. Also saw Rodney Crowell (so-so performance) and the Knitters(sweet show. the band is much better live.).

saw the same beck show here in minneapolis @ roy wilkins. i agree that it was pretty good.
