Re: Frist Announces He\'s Running For President
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] This is the kind of over the top stuff that makes both sides look increasingly worse. [/ QUOTE ] You may have missed my sarcasm... [/ QUOTE ] I missed it entirely. Sarcasm is often difficult to detect on internet forums. I get it more often than not, but missed yours. My fault. |

Re: Frist Announces He\'s Running For President
[ QUOTE ]
He has always disagreed with The President on this issue and said so many times citing his medical background. Like I said this is not surpising at all. [/ QUOTE ] Disagreeing is one thing; holding a lengthy Senate speech to proclaim it is entirely another. |

Re: Frist Announces He\'s Running For President
[ QUOTE ]
I missed it entirely. Sarcasm is often difficult to detect on internet forums. I get it more often than not, but missed yours. [/ QUOTE ] Without hijacking my own thread... I actually find Frist to be typically thoughtful and reasonable. But his role in the Schiavo case was mind-boggling; I found the hours and hours of prognosticating by commentators/activists, not to mention the video of her looking at that Disney balloon played ad nauseum by the media to be the height of careless journalism for what it (the video) and they (the commentators/activists) implied about her condition. Not to mention the consequences that video had for Michael Schiavo, Judge Greer, etc. in swaying public opinion that she might somehow be conscious. Frist (out of political expediency, I'm sure) decided to join the fray and throw in his two cents about Schiavo's condition - which was particularly irresponsible, given that he's a doctor, and ought to have known better that he was in no position to judge. |

Re: Frist Announces He\'s Running For President
There's about a million ways for Frist to support stem cell research behind the scenes; the fact that he's openly seeking an audience says something (as it always does in politics) about his motivations.

Its definatly no suprise he's running, I figured he was a 95% lock in to run, but to win, I dont think so.

Well if your a liberal good luck on trying to vote in the republican primaries. [/ QUOTE ] There are numerous states (including my own, Michigan) that have open primaries. |

Re: Frist Announces He\'s Running For President
Even for presidential nominations? Why would they have that?
