Default Anyone Ask to Have their Chat Banned?

I went off the deep end yesterday and used some incredibly bad language after a few days of horrible beats (we all have them I know).

I decided that this was not appropriate behavior considering I play to make money. I had Party temporarily ban my chat. I did it for a test period of two weeks but may extend it for a few months.

Is this weird and has anyone done it?

Its similar to, but also the opposite of those people who voluntarily ban themselves from casinos.

Wow, you were so frustrated that you couldn't keep from typing curse words?

When you have the nuts in a live (B&M) game, does your finger click an invisible mouse like that geek from Tilt, too?

There was a thread here some months ago where a poster requested that Party ban his chat (for the same reason) but Party wouldn't do it. Rather funny, actually.

I have to say I got my money's worth cursing people out. I used some really nice descriptive language. What sets me off is when people raise the turn against my overpair with middle pair, hit their five outer and taunt me. I then go stone cold crazy.

Party and Eurobet both happily banned my chat. I am very cool in live games but only have played a couple of hundred hours live, it is the anonymity of the internet that lets me lose control and that is not cool.

Just move on to the next hand...
You should just swear out loud instead of typing it.
On the Interweb, no one can hear you scream.

Also, suckouts are a great way to see if you are playing correctly. The more suckouts your opponents are giving you, the more that you are sure you're giving them bad odds to draw out.

Yeah. I asked Empire to ban my chat. They did it for a month, but now I can chat again.

The part of my game that needs the most work is not cursing out the people who pay my salary. I can take 4 or 5 bad beats in a half hour without losing it. When the number approaches 10, I lose it. There's no feeling like losing consecutive big pots to a 2 outer on the river and then following it up with a couple of river gutshots. Then your aces get cracked by some guy who raised before the flop with a6os from middle position....arrggghhh! Gets me mad just thinking about those days.

I like having the chat available just to exchange pleasantries (things like saying nice hand, thank you, etc.). So, I'm working on it controlling my berating of the fish. I'm seriously considering hiring a psychologist to help me deal with bad beats more smoothly. lol.

I'm kinda surprised you needed to do this.

It could have consequences as some player who might just be trying to say Hi could then think you are ignoring them.

Another microbob story:
I was laying on the couch and playing 3 or 4 tourneys....one of them was only heads-up because no one else signed-up.
I didn't feel like reaching up to the keyboard to respond to his constant, "Hi", "are you there?" "are you going to respond?" over and over.

I figured he had a brain and might just figure my chat was off and I didn't see it.
Instead...he let his clock run down to 1 second every chance he got. He was getting pissed...I was enjoying his efforts to stall me out. He kept saying "When you start talking then I'll start playing." which naturally ENSURED that I wouldn't say a word just because I liked watching him tilt and call me names, etc etc. It was kind of weird. (unfortunately, I lost the heads-up match to him).

Other than running into a total idiot like that guy...I think the only -EV is not being able to loosen-up the table by being funny/friendly. But it sounds like it is better EV for you to just get it shut off.

Even better EV would be for you to set a rule for yourself that EVERY time you feel like typing in a tirade like that you have to take a break.
One cuss word in the chat-box means "Time-out!!"

Staying there at the table while tilting away at some guy with whatever it was you said sure sounds to me like you might have been thrown off of playing your best game by that point.

The really funny part is that the guy could have accomplished the same thing by disabling his own chat.
