Default BAY101 players and room

Have played everyday this week at BAY101 mostly in the 6/12 games with a sprinkling of 9/18. Pretty soft games, with a mixture of mostly LPPs and LAGs with a few TAGs.

One thing I noticed is that there are several people with IWTSTH syndrome. Is this pretty common here? Do the dealers or floor try to do anything about this? All of the dealers seemed eager to comply with the requests each time it came up?

I hadn't played there in quite a while (2/4 back when I really knew nothing about poker and I went with a few buddies who were also pretty bad ), but I like this room. Tables are not super cramped as they like to keep them 9 handed and are reasonably spaced in the 6/12 and higher areas. The dealers are pretty decent. I saw 1 or 2 deck rolls and one premature burn and turn. Not a single misdeal, no cards flying off the table (happened to me no fewer than 5 times in 2 short sessions in Vegas), and one exposed card (dealer pitched while the BB was completing his post and it hit his hand). The room was quite busy during the day with lists for 6/12 and 9/18 growing to 20+ around noon. I will be heading back soon and more frequently.

What is IWTSTH? Bay 101 consistently has great mid-limit games. The 4/8 kill O8 game is usually pretty rockin as well if you're interested.

Most likely means "I want to see that hand" and I've experienced that at Bay101, but not as frequently as the OP suggests. I find the games at Garden City softer and prefer to play there FWIW.

9-18? you mean 8-16? They haven't had 9-18 at the bay for two years or so.

Dealers are very good there and IWTSTH is a small price to pay for the privlidge of playing against players who looooove their gutshots.

Really? Softer.. wow, I'll have to check GC out. I've never played, but have had dinner w/ the wife there a few times. I just can't see it being much softer....

an example hand that I just loved...

I get dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in CO. 3 Limpers to me, I raise, button (very aggro so far) calls 2 cold, SB folds and everyone else calls.

Flop comes A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

UTG+1 bets out, one caller, I raise, button calls 2 again, BB folds, UTG+1 and other caller (MP1-2) also calls.

4 players now (pot is 10ish BB)

Turn : 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Checked to me. I bet, button raises, everyone else drops, and I am thinking I could be up against a set now (most likely 4s, 7s, or 9s) but have watched this guy pump EVERYONE of his bigger (and not so bigger) draws so far. I go ahead and 3-bet hoping he was indeed pumping his flush draw and if he 4-bet, I'd still have my flush and boat outs unless he got quaded up. He just calls my 3-bet, so I'm thinking a draw, but we'll see what the river brings.

heads up now (pot 16ish BB)
river : 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (Yahtzee I think to myself!)

I bet, he raises, and I'm happy as a clam.

We go 5 bets before he states that he is "just gonna call" because he doesn't want to bust my set of aces this way.

I flip, he cries, I cry 'cause I wanted more
He had K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

He said I was crazy for 3-betting the turn with "only 2 pair"

I said.. "I know, I mis-read the board. I thought I already had the flush." The guy to my right let out a small chuckle and mumbled "riiiight" under his breath and told me nice hand. I had played with him every day so far this week and he sat next to me 3 of the 4 days. We had a nice chat about the hand about 20 minutes later when the guy left.

The people at Bay101 LOVE to chase their draws! I love it, but I have also seen many people get upset that a guy played 83s, but caught runner-runner to crack their As, Ks, whatever.

Great story, bravos1. :-)

In general, Bay101 and Garden City are both extremely soft up to the 20/40 level (I haven't played higher), but GC is definitely the softest. The variance can be a bit higher for good players because of the chasers, but one's overall winnings are that much better.

I'd also add that there's not much difference between the 6-12, 8-16, and 20-40 play at either casino. There are perhaps a tad more knowledgeable TAGs at Bay101 in the 20-40, but otherwise the play is similarly bad at all three levels.
