Why are you buying in deep if you DON'T plan on being a bully? Was there a point to this post, or are you looking for a group hug? [/ QUOTE ] "Yes there was a point if you had read the post." Yep, ya got me. I came up with that without reading a word. " I was just wondering how buying in for more than everyone else is viewed in your games" Who cares? It's your game that matters here. And you DO know that you're not really getting to play with $50, in effect, right? |

"It didn't really seem fair to him because the different stacks threw off the game. "
How? |

Re: Am I a dick for buying in deep
.25/.50 should be the standard blinds for $50 buy in. But the .25/.50 seems to be the standard for these little games. Probably because it's a pain in the ass to do .15/.25 blinds with normal chips.

Re: Am I a dick for buying in deep
[ QUOTE ]
I regularly play in a home .25c/.50c NL game. Most of the players are only casual players. Everyone usually buys in for $20, but as everyone here knows that is a short buy in for that structure. I've recently started buying in for $50 or $40 while everyone else buys in for $20. Everyone seems cool with it, but for some reason I think that they may feel I'm being a bully when I buy in for that much. I don't want to come off taking as the game too serious. What do you guys think? [/ QUOTE ] What's the problem with taking the game a little seriously? I assume you're all there because you like poker, and you ran the buy in thing by your friends. I think you can still joke around with your buddies, have a couple drinks, and play some strong slightly drunk poker. If someone asks why you buy in that big, say you think that it gives you an advantage, but you'd be willing to buy in for 20 if they didn't think that was fair. |
