Default 8 tabling discussion/winrate

My question is how many of you play 8 tables (or more) as opposed to just 2 or 4? I remember Schnieds in his journal saying his hourly rate was higher just playing 4 tables. In my talks and findings I believe this is almost the exception to the rule.

I think in terms of hand reading and imporving ones game the opportunity cost of playing 8 tables hurts you in the longterm because you are not really improving your game in areas that are easier to improve given the quality of how you play each hand. It hurts your ability to move up in limits because you are just playing a steady game.

I am interested in how some of you long-term 10-20 winners who (excuse the lack of a better term) are just stuck there playing it forever. Veterans of 10-20 how many tables do you play? Do you not play more because you are trying to get better or is it for another reason? Have you tried playing more and your $$/rate went down?

Obviously rakeback is a concern and your winrate can drop going from 4-8 tables but your $$/hr increases even without rakeback.

I myself have been 8 tabling 5-10 (moving up from 4 tables). The last 90k or so hands 8 tabling I am at a rate of 1.46/100. I know my winrate would be a bit higher if I only played 1 table but the $$/hr rate would never compare.

I am getting ready to take the jump to 10-20 but am used to the routine of firing up 8 tables and goin nuts til my eyes bleed. Starting at 10-20 I will drop down in tables and learn the metagame and adjust. Is 8 tabling at 10-20 a pipe dream? I think your winrate would suffer more severely from a table count change at 10-20 as opposed to 5-10. I am not sure who 8 tables it. SThief does I think?

A lot of big name posters say they play 4, I dont hear many who say 8, or their experiences with winrate.

I am interested in what these people have to say.

Thanks.

There are metagame considerations at 10/20? This is news to me.

I think he was 6-tabling.

I may do this in the future, but for now, I just move up to bigger games when they are good if I feel the need to earn more. $20/40 and $30/60 are fun.
