The vast majority of the time that raise gets called by at least one of those guys. Then you're up sht's creek for the rest of the hand.

These guys must have had no cards or are completely unaware of pot/implied odds & position. Nice game selection, but in most 2/4NL games you won't be getting away with this too often.

Glad it worked out.

Would you checkraise the flop if you held two rags as well? It's pretty unlikely that this hand will make it to showdown when you take this line -- you will win if your opponents fold, and if they do not, then you will probably have to give up against further aggression. The fact that you have top pair is mostly irrelevent (other than that it's one less ace for your opponents to hold).

And if MP1 calls your checkraise, I think you are going to have to fire again on the turn, because it's pretty likely that he is drawing at something. On the other hand, if UTG calls your checkraise then it's probably time to give up (unless you think you still have a good chance of bluffing him off a slightly better hand, but that's a bit beyond the scope of this thread).

I am willing to checkraise any two when UTG bets 14$ in a 88$ pot and UTG+1 coldcalls on a drawheavy flop. if UTG calls you need to fire at least pot on a "safe" turn card. This also holds the benefit that you might very well make him fold an ace with sligtly better kicker as you are representing a strong holding.
Regarding the preflop play, There is a BIG difference between raising with A8s with position and calling raises out of position preflop.
