- An aggressive postflop player would properbly already have punished you with a raise holding an A on the flop or turn. Against this type i would bet.

- A fit-or-fold passive postflop player would call with both A and Q. Against this type i would most often bet.

- A tight passive postflop player would most often only call you down only if he held the ace. I would check against him.

- Against a suicidal maniac i would always bet.

I don't know that you can necessarily value bet this river. You are way behind to any ace (and he will call) and you chop with any queen. What range of hands does he call your bet with that you beat? If you can come up with a good range that leads to you winning this pot 55% or more of the time, I'd say go ahead and bet (of course, you don't have anywhere near enough time for this calculation when playing, but it's a good exercise).

I check-call, hoping to induce a bluff.

This isn't good, I don't think. If this sort of player calls you, you are going to be chopping or losing. This goes against the reason for value betting. You should make this bet when you expect that you will win when it is called.

If you check, you should fold.

Why? So many damn people bet when checked to. I know it's one of your favorite strategies. You don't think you are good 1 in 6.75 times when you check and the other dude bets?

Typical opponent is loose and passive. He will call but not bet, unless your beat.

So your argument is that he will only bet with an A 84% of the time?

You don't need to be ahead 55% of the time to bet here.

if I've seen him call down w/bp or any pp I definitely bet, otherwise I check it through.

All that matters is that you pick the option with the highest EV: 1. check-fold 2. check-call 3.bet

If you're in last position and he checks, then you need to be ahead at least 55% of the time when called if you want to bet.
