Default Hard Rock Hotel/Casino, Hollywood, Florida

Hey all:

I'm going to be down in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area for an extended weekend. I am planning on checking out the Hard Rock in Hollywood. If anybody can share any thoughts/opinions/experiences regarding the poker room, I would appreciate it.

I've heard they run some multi table tourneys on Sundays, and that they consistently run SnGs. Any comments on the formats of these (stacks, time per blind round, etc.) would be quite helpful.

although i have not been there yet i have heard good things.. you can also check out the dania jai alai fronton which is not too far away from there.. in miami there is miami jai alai which has straight $2 pretty much nofoldem holdem, but if you go in with the nuts you can take a nice size pot.. also the miccosoukee reservation on the west edge of miami has 1/2 and straight two..

I'll actually be in the area next week. How far from Ft. Lauderdale Beach is this place? What would a cab run me (the website says its 15 mins away). Are there other ways to get there?

Thanks,
Jeff

to the hardrock? i really dont know since im in miami, to the south, but im sure there aer shuttles taht run to and from.. i know miccosoukee, the indian reservation in miami has a shuttle that you pay $10 and they pick you up at your house (or hotel) and run you to the casino and once there they give you a betting voucher.. maybe hardrock has something similar..

I was there last year and it was only 1/2 and 2/2 limit, 10-12 to a table. They had probably 12 - 15 tables going on a weeknight. Wasn't impressed at all, but maybe it has gotten better.

They have 1/2 and 2/2 Hold'Em. Also Omaha and 7 Card Stud. The Hold'Em is 10 handed, usually 7-8 see a flop. Cheapest SNG is $135, 10 handed. I think there is also $250 (somewhere around there) and $500. They have multi-tables throughout the week, ranging from $65 - $500. I think there is a $500 one on Saturday afternoon. They change some of the tournaments monthly, so you should call if you want a specific multi table tournament. Its about 10-15 minutes from Ft Lauderdale airport. So, I would guess 20-30 minutes from the beach depending on traffic, etc.

It gets pretty full on Friday nights. I would assume Saturday night as well. Almost all tables are full on Friday nights between SNGs and regular games. I guess 40-50 tables. They have a pager system - $20 per pager which they give back when you turn it in. I think you can get multiple pages..like one for hold'em, one for SNG, one for 7 card, etc.

Hope this helps.
