Question about Negreanu and props
My opinion of DN is generally positive -- I'm not trying to bash him or start a whining/ranting thread but I'm sort of curious about one of his recent blog posts:

Finally, at about 8:00am after a 10 hour session I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. I ended up winning $207,500 in the poker game. As for props, I lost $136,000 there, so I netted $71,500 on the evening. It is kind of strange that after a 10 hour session the only interesting hands I can remember are the props flops! Oh well, next time I promise to post a hand or two in the blog. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think the last statement is 'strange' -- I think it indicates that the first statement that I quoted above is false, and they actually do concentrate pretty heavily on the props. If I played an entire session without remembering any notable hands, I would either A) wonder what the hell was wrong with me or B) remember that I'd played a very boring session. Obviously we can't take these blog posts at face value and I'm sure he actually does remember some hands that he didn't write about... but the wording that he chose here seems very silly and suggests that they're basically just playing poker to pass the time between props.

[/ QUOTE ] Just because he doesn't remember any interesting hands doesn't mean he wasn't focused during the time of those hands. There's also the fact that those hands were NOT interesting to Daniel, hence the fact that he probably doesn't remember them. The hands that ARE interesting, I'm sure he remember.

I read his blog and for a while now have had the feeling that he is bored
with poker. He plays a WPT event and gets bored, does something "fancy", ie generally -ev, and gets knocked out, but who cares it is only $10k and he has endorsements coming out of his ears. He does like to gamble though and props are his new "toy", just like his new tv. Aside from winning the WSOP main event he has achieved most things in tournament poker that he probably ever dreamed of. Where does he go from here ? What was Phil Helmuth thinking several years ago when people still talked about him as a poker playing genius ? Aq.
