Pot odds - ratio of "amount of money in pot" to "amount of money it takes to call"

Implied odds deals with the amount of extra money you can make on the hand if you hit your card. In a limit game on a flush draw, you might win an extra bet. In a no limit game with a more hidden straight draw, you might win your opponents' whole stack if you catch your card.

Implied odds are much more important in No Limit and Pot Limit games than limit games.

So if there is £101 in the pot, and it is £1 to call, and the chances of me making my hand is 1% i should call right?

Yes.

Pot is laying you 101:1 odds, and it's 99:1 to hit your hand (99% you won't to 1% you will).

Any time the pot is laying you better odds than the odds of hitting one of your effective outs that you believe will win the hand, you have to play. If you win extra bets (implied odds), then that's gravy.
