Default Crazy 88\'s

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

MP1 is 40/2/1.5 after about 100 hands...does my line look ok/std? Would 3-betting PF been a good move here?

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises</font>, <font color="#666666">6 folds</font>, Hero calls, UTG+1 folds.

Flop: (6.50 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, MP1 calls.

Turn: (7.25 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises</font>, Hero calls.

River: (11.25 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets</font>, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 13.25 BB

Don't 3 bet preflop, villain is likely to have an overpair.

Don't slow down on the turn unless you know he wouldn't play an AA or KK like this.

I think you played it perfect. Unfortunate river card, hopefully it didn't change the results of the hand.

Why is this being played so passively?

Why is this river card unfortunate?

I like the cap on the flop obviously, but I think we run into QQ enough here to just call the raise on the turn.

The river is no good because a small percentage of the time he'll have sucked out with KK against us. I don't think that percentage is insignificant.

Wouldn't most opponents play QQ, KK, AA, AQ the same way on the flop/turn? In that case we are likely ahead and should 3-bet.

This is a good example of where the stats on the player don't give us the information we want. Sure we could be up against a bigger set, but we can't always fear the worst when we likely have the best of it. At the very least raise the turn and if he caps it you can show your hand down for one bet on the river.
