Default L.A.\'s Friendliest

40-80 at Commerce. A bunch of players limp in pre-flop, as usual, except me, as usual. Then sombody raises and, as usual, all the limpers, and the blinds, call. All are in except me.

By the turn, the board is J-8-7-3 rainbow. There's a bet and a raise and all the limpers clear out for the two combatants. They go four more raises when one guy chickens out and just calls. The river is a blank and the chicken checks, the other guy bets, and the other guy calls. The bettor shows, of course, T-9, and the other guy taps the table in resigned, disgusted concession.

As the loser's cards hit the muck, the winner says he wants to see his hand. Another player not involved, a nice young lady, tells the winner it's rude to ask to see the other guy's hand. The winner, his voice a little louder now, tells her to mind her own business. She calls him an idiot. Which he is. He calls her, Kinda Loud, a POS. The floorman comes over and tells the dealer to deal him out for twenty minutes.

He pleads his case and they deal him back in. (!) The guy now starts on the guy next to him and calls him a POS, REAL LOUD now. That guy calls the floorman over and they deal the idiot out and he starts calling everybody POS's, including me for telling him he's out of line. Which he is. They kick him out of the game and he tells the floorman he'll have his job in twenty minutes, and the rest of us what we can suck on.

A regular player from the other game comes over and says, "Welcome to L.A.'s Friendliest Casino." The next hand it's my blind and one player raises; all fold around to me and I ask, "What POS raised?"

A good time was had by all.

This weekend I played a few hours of 20, sweated players in the 40 and 100 a little, and played a lot of 10/20 NL. In all of that time, I didn't get to see any real out of line player behavior. It was quite a letdown.

Someone did point out Iris to me, so that was cool.

She was exactly as I had pictured her in my mind, down to the expression on her face. Unfortunately, she left before I could have the pleasure of sitting in a game with her.

I did say it. Supposedly it was for a month. It must have been a short month. (February or something.)

I once saw Frenchy barred for a month and he was back in the game the next day because, according to Marcel, "he apologized."

The Commerce floormen should work for the Bush administration.

Curious, why doesn't Commerce staff just run the joint better? How does it benefit anyone to create such an atmosphere?

As I mentioned in my initial post to Andy, this weekend at every table I played at or watched, players behaved well, everyone was friendly (for the most part), and the dealers were quite competent. The sole complaint I had about the Commerce was the dreadful food.
