Well i am a solid player...but solid plays don't make you money. You may finish in the money, but your alwaystoo short stacked to get into the final table for big bucks. when your short blinds are big your AA has no value unless u get lucky

You're confusing 'solid' with tight.

Of course I am sure I'm overlooking many things. I'm also sure that a great player would say that I'm just scratching the surface.

Your a great player too so go ahead. Do you go by SoBeDude on Party? I have you on my buddy list there. I think we were on the same table many many months ago near the end of a MTT and we struck up a good conversation. I go by Fumducker.

Ahh, but it only took a good player to call both those hands blind.

Maybe your the lucky one....my solid tight plays don't get me into the money too much... I don't know how may great cards you get per tournament...but i don't get many..I'd be lucky to get AA and get a caller and not get busted. My average percentage of getting one AA in a tourney is small to nil...

I've read many books and know most of the techniques your talking about. I've played a lot of poker. I do make good reads and bets..but i get unlucky more than often..My friends have seen me play and they start laughing when they see my beats. I do sometimes play random cards..but i don't go all overboard and try to steal with them all the time. And i know how to throw away great cards. but as of so far not lucky.

From you're other posts you're description of solid tight play, while great for ring games, is not appropriate for tournament play. I think you're reading the wrong books. Try Tournament Poker for Advanced Players by Sklansky.

Think of it this way, in a roughly 3 hour tournament with 100 players you have about 3 hours to get 100X your buy-in. This is totaly unrealistic in ring game play, of course the rising blinds help this goal but you should still see my point. This is what I meant by changing gears at the inflection points. Study how the average stack size pace the blinds and pace you're own stack. This gives you a general idea of whether you are playing too tight or not aggressive enough.

Here is another way of looking at it. If you read the posts for high stakes poker the posts are more about laying down big hands. In the multi-table forum you see that at some point it is correct to push all-in with 64 off suit.
