Bikes in Las Vegas
Going to Vega$ for Thanksgiving Day week for a bit of a celebration.
Any recommendation for cheap bike rentals and/or purchase from a pawn and thrift store??? Maybe someone local can recommend something which I can give back after my 6 days are up in LV. In ACity I got a bike for $20 @ a garage sale which I peddle on the Boardwalk - Anything similar would be fine! |

Re: Bikes in Las Vegas
Biking on the Strip is not a good idea. There are several spots on the Strip which can't be crossed without crossing a bridge. You'll be lugging the bike up stairs, crossing the bridge, and then going down another set of stairs.
You won't be able to use the sidewalks with the heavy pedestrian traffic. |

Re: Bikes in Las Vegas
I live in vegas and just spent a grand on a bike. It is a nice place if you can find areas to avoid cars - which is going to be hard downtown or on the strip, or off the strip. I am on the south side of town in all new developments and it is a great time of year to ride. Just do it earlier in the day when everyone is at work.
If you want to rent a bike, there are a few upscaly type places on Charelston, both mountain and road, but those should rented only if you intend to go out to Red Rock Canyon and ride. Or to Bootleg Canyon. But they are pricy. |

Spook:
Thanks about the info. I know there are some speciality place that rent Mountain Bikes in particular for rides out to Red Rock etc. But as you said those bikes are costly and secondly they are not the kind of bike that I'm looking for. Actually I'm looking for a BeachCruiser type... No gear changes and minimal frills. |

Re: Bikes in Las Vegas
I agree that biking on the Strip as a pedestrian is not a good idea, but biking as a vehicle would be fine. I don't have any advice on how to find a bike, but I congratulate you for doing so - I'm always glad to hear about someone else using bikes to get around.

Re: Bikes in Las Vegas
I'd be worried about getting hit while on a bike. If the vehicle isn't a cab they are likely looking at hot chicks on the sidewalks or the casinos. That means they aren't paying attention to a dude on a bike. Anyways, you've got feet.

Re: Bikes in Las Vegas
Yeah i wouldn't even consider riding a motorcycle on the strip. The monorail runs up the strip and there are few places that are not a short walk from a station so I just buy myself a 10 ride ticket when i'm there.
