Nothing gets worse than a meaningless 3-pointer at the buzzer. You know, the spread is 6. Team trails by 8. Hits a 30 footer at the buzzer. ouch

This past week, those of us who put money on the Gators @ Kentucky are pretty upset.

Mine has to be the best. At the free throw line down 2, 1 shot remaining. He wants to miss on purpose to hopefully get the rebound and score. He ACCIDENTLY makes it. I lose.

You win

My worst ever actually. 1997 college football. Illinois @ Ohio State. Spread is -38 for the Buckeyes. I faded Illinois all year (they went 2-9 ATS, hooray for me). money on the Buckeyes of course. They're up 41-0 and are running out the clock. The backup QB decides to roll out to waste more time and drops the ball!
From the press clipping [ QUOTE ]
Illinois averted a shutout on the final play of the game when
fourth-string Ohio State quarterback Steve Gehlert fumbled and
cornerback Trevor Starghill returned it 38 yards for a
touchdown. The Buckeyes defense has allowed just one touchdown
in the past 20 quarters.

worst beat ever. The football players in my dorm said their happiest thought of the day was the image of me going apeshit in our dorm on that play and losing a c-note for betting against them.

everyone knows the worst in recent memory was Duhon's meaningless 3 from halfcourt at the buzzer v UConn in the Final Four 2 years ago. I don't know how many billions that cost UConn betttors, but I felt like I lost the GDP of Uganda on that one.
Thank God UConn covered easily v GaTech in the Final.

Haha, yes, that would have sucked had I bet on it. I am a diehard Huskies fan though so I will always remember that day with a smile.

As I recall though, GT made a furious rally at the end of the game hitting 6 or so 3's in the last couple mins to briefly threaten covering. Now THAT would have been a real bad beat for UConn bettors.
