AKo, 3bet before it\'s my turn
First hand at the table
Party Poker (6 max, 6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG folds, UTG+1 raises, CO 3bets, button coldcalls, SB folds, Peter calls, UTG+1 calls. Most of the time I will cap preflop, but with the extra caller I figured I'd just call. Big mistake? Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) What's my best play, bet out and hope I can 3bet or checkraise? |

Re: AKo, 3bet before it\'s my turn
I think just calling preflop is fine. I'd check-raise the inevitable flop bet and go from there.
Bet-3-bet would normally be a good idea, but after you call 2 bets in the BB, then lead out into the 3-bettor preflop on an AK high flop... well you'll let people get off their hand early. Check-raising could be a flush draw or some Ax and it pretty much ensures action on this flop. |

Re: AKo, 3bet before it\'s my turn
I'm not an expert at short-handed play, but I'd see capping as a better option. The UTG+1 has already put in two bets and after the caps he would probably call one extra bet as well. Also 3 raising indicates a lot of strength, he might be holding AK as well, AQ of spades (one of the worst cases), AA (worst case) or KK (second worst case). Of course he could as well have QQ, JJ or TT and you'd have him dominated. He was the aggressor preflop, but you capped it. Not betting out here would probably be fishy and I wouldn't bet out without a strong ace if I was the UTG+1 guy. Also, the cold caller could be holding something similar to QJ, maybe even QJs of spades. I think there are just so many possible draws out there, you can't afford to give a freecard in case they check after you. Even if they don't have draws yet, there are quite a few ways they could improve.
Then again, I suck. Which limit was this played on? |

Is folding preflop an option? At full ring vs standard opponents, yes?

Ok, maybe not shorthanded, silly idea. But full table?

Re: AKo, 3bet before it\'s my turn
I'd typically cap pf with this hand. The extra caller, IMO, provides extra incentive to cap as opposed to a deterent. I'd probably think mostly about my oponents' raising standards here more than anything. Being out of position kinda sucks too. Capping usually can't be too much of a mistake, if any. I can see the argument for calling 2 pf, and makeing your move later. I do not know what is a superior plan... though.
