Default My first 4,000 hands of 6max.

Hey,

I recently began my foray into 6max (i've found it like 10 times more fun than full ring).

I decided to play at Absolute at the level 1/2 because I could take advantage of RB and bonuses to soften the learning curve on my bankroll - and i'd heard that 6max is quite nice at Absolute.

Anyway with about 300-400 of full ring 1/2 stats mixed in with 4000 or so hands of 6max:

VP$P 21.9, VP$SB 28.2, FoldedSBTS 71.95, FoldedBBTS 59.30, ATSB 26.88, W$WSF% 44.95

BB/100 = 0.87

WenttoSD% = 39.72, Won $ at SD 45.50, PF Raise 12.43

I began 6max by skimming over the HPFAP section on shorthanded.

Recently I acquired a collection of articles/guides/posts on 6max (in PDF format).

I realise that I probably need to raise more preflop (I've been following the popular 6max starting guide recently), probably go to showdown less with something like A-high.

Can anyone provide any analysis/tips?

I own SSHE, HPFAP, TOP and am soon gonna get King Yao's book.

Where should I concentrate with my reading/learning?

Thankyou!
Alex

So far it sounds like you're starting off just fine. 6max is more about adjusting to your opponents than full gmaes, so its good that you're already learning relative hand values, in that you know you need to raise more and go to showdown less with A-high (at a passive level).

If you're not an idiot and are somewhat observant, you should be able to handle 1/2 easily. There's no substitute for experience, so just get in there and play lots, and post hands representative of trouble spots you may have.

You sound like you're motivated and actively trying to get better. That's good.

Posting after 4k hands. . .that's bad. Please read the FAQ and where is Krishan's limerick when you need it?

Seriously, post some hands, read the board. Don't post stats and other stuff after this few hands.

Hey gotme,

You got some helpful replies...check out the sticky at the top of the forum, and use the search engine if you have general questions. early to mid '04 was a good time in the archives.

Stat posts are discouraged below a significant (30k) sample size. It's also important to note (as another poster humorously mentioned) that winrates do not converge for hundreds of thousands of hands, so do yourself a favor and stop worrying about it now. Check out beachbum's link in the sticky for winrates discussion.

Good luck. post hands, and reply to other player's posts, it's the best way to learn. Don't worry so much about making your stats fit...if your game is good the stats will follow.
