Default pot odds, baby: call preflop allin with Q5s?

$10/$20 NL.

2 early limpers. I post a $20 bb in CO, and get Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Button shortstack goes allin for $100.

It's folded to me, I am last to act. Bet is $80 to me, $190 in the pot.

Call, getting better than 2:1, and knowing that desperate button's range of hands is pretty broad? Why yes.

The sad part is that I was thinking to myself as I spotted the button's stack, "Self, what will you do if he moves in and it's folded to you? Self, I believe I shall call."

I figured it couldn't hurt my image.

maybe if you were closing the action and the limpers folded. Otherwise, I cant see a call here, maybe a reraise if they never limp/reraise and will fold.

Looks good.. your Q is live against a mid pair, your 5 gives you at least some outs against a better Q, and his most likely hand is Ax, x is 9 or higher, meaning both of your cards are often live. Plus its soooted.

this is really a DS/limit poker question. given a fairly wide range of hands, most of which you're somewhat behind, do you even bother looking before calling getting >2:1?

given the metagame aspects, i vote no.

Hey, I play online, gotta look.

I really like Roman's suggestion of slammin on the gas and reraising if someone else calls. I like to do it in this situation with mid-PPs that I may have limped, but Q5 would be hilarious, and +imageV once it got shown down.

Is he totally unknown? I hate flipping coins with someone who's likely on tilt and may get off tilt if he wins. On the other hand, if you bust his AJ he may just rebuy and throw a party.

I don't think this is really going to give you much of an image, especially if you lose and 'show'.

i try to not fold sooted hands getting 2:1 closing further action on pfai...

seriously though:
vs an incredibly broad range

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

Hand 1: 37.1670 % [ 00.36 00.01 ] { Q5s }
Hand 2: 62.8330 % [ 00.62 00.01 ] { AA-22, AKs-A2s, KQs-KTs, QJs-QTs, JTs, AKo-A2o, KQo-KTo, QJo-QTo, JTo }

---

it's not too much pos EV. a little tighter range...

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

Hand 1: 33.3417 % [ 00.33 00.01 ] { Q5s }
Hand 2: 66.6583 % [ 00.66 00.01 ] { AA-55, AKs-A5s, KQs-KTs, QJs-QTs, JTs, AKo-ATo, KQo-KJo }

and then something slightly more reasonable

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

Hand 1: 31.0839 % [ 00.31 00.00 ] { Q5s }
Hand 2: 68.9161 % [ 00.69 00.00 ] { AA-77, AKs-ATs, KQs-KJs, AKo-AJo }

I think you should fold. it's probably not winning or losing too many dollars either way,so no need to add variance

I would have called without even thinking about it, but then again I like to gamboooooool when things like that happen.
