Jets Reported to Ink with Ty Law,
Supposedly it's 3 years 23M, 5million signing bonus. If they can just somehow make John Abraham happy, I think this defense will be something special.
Cornerback Ty Law agreed to a multiyear deal with the Jets late last night, according to his publicist, Elita Lee. Law, the four-time Pro Bowl selection who was released by the New England Patriots in February, sustained a left foot injury in a game at Pittsburgh on Oct. 31 andfinished the 2004 season on the injured reserve list. Law, 31, said his surgically repaired foot was healed. He is expected to fill the starting void created last month by the retirement of Donnie Abraham. Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis, asked by reporters over the weekend about the prospect of Law joining the team, said: "He came from a program that all they did was win. Any time you get a player like that onyour team, it boosts everybody else up. We'lljust have to take after his lead because obviously he's been there and done that." Ellis added that Law, owner of three Super Bowl rings, could be the final piece of the championship puzzle for the Jets, who last season came within a field goal of advancing to the American Football Conference title game. "It becomes really exciting," Ellis said. Law had 36 interceptions and 121 passes in 141 games with the Patriots. He was part of the same Patriots draft class as Curtis Martin, with whom he will now be reunited on the Jets |

Re: Jets Reported to Ink with Ty Law,
If he's healthy it should be a great pick-up. Or it could be Belicheck cutting ties with a guy at precisely the right time.

Law was due to make like $12.5 at NE this year. They needed cap room and wanted to restructure, but the numbers I saw weren't that high. I saw $4 + incentives someplace. Maybe they did want to keep him and it was a money issue. I'm skeptical that he'd make the move if he was offered 4/24 and then take 3/23. |

espn What you can't trust me? [/ QUOTE ] So he turned down a 4/$24 with the teams where he's won 3 championships to go to the Jets where he's "expected to be for at least three years and could average $6 million per season"? So same pay? Does this make sense? |

espn What you can't trust me? [/ QUOTE ] So the offer the Pats made last year was before Law got injured. Again, Belichek doesn't make mistakes very often regading personnel. I hope it works out for Jets, but I'm skeptical. |
