Default Aviation Club in Paris

Hi guys, I'm a long time reader and first time poster. I think the info everyone posts is very informative and thought provoking. That being said, I'm going to Paris for a month this summer and am curious about the Aviation Club. Ialready know some of the general info (ie, dress code, admissions requirements, etc.), but I am curious about the types of players there.

If anyone has been there, I would really appreciate any information you could share about the players. Are there many producers that play there regularly? Or, just in general, how tough are the games? Whats the general lineup of players like?

Thanks.

From what I hear and again this is not first-hand knowledge, they play dealer's choice Pot-limit there for the most part with the usual mix of good, bad and indifferent players.

The local regular old guys seem to think, that they have right to do anything at the table. And unfortunately dealers let them to do that, unless someone(you) says something. So be prepaired to stand up for yourself. And try to be as nice as you can to the dealers and stuff.

Athmosphere is quite nice, and games are mostly soft. And if you play there more than once, you are going to get along very well with the regulars. After all they are not that bad, they just have this french-mentality.

Good luck, and have a nice trip.

If you're there on the weekend, they tend to run NLHE tourneys that are fun and soft. I believe their web site lists the tournament schedule.

Dress is not formal. Most of the French regulars wouldn't look out of place at an OTB. But the room is so nice you'll want to rise above the level of, say, Foxwoods attire, if only for your own edification.

I was told that this club is members only, and that it is not open to the public. Can somebody confirm firsthand that non-members are allowed to play?

You can play there. If you're not from there, you simply leave your passport at the desk. Maybe they keep out locals. That seems likely.

Thanks for the information guys. I can't wait to play there. I just have one more question: are there any straight hold'em cash games(limit or otherwise) or are thay all dealers choice (their website isn't very clear on this)?
Thanks again.

I was there about a month ago. And got in without any problems. Had to show them my passport, and as soon as they had 'registered' me I got it back.

I think they have a 60-120 limit game, where it is HE-TripleDraw-Omaha8. Other cash games are dealer choice.
