Poker Team

Has anyone ever thought about forming an online poker team. What i mean by this is a group of people who are all freinds and that play all the same tournys. Any payouts are split up amongst the people that played the tourny.
I think it is a good idea and really helps the periods of bad beats.

Sounds cool, as long as there is no collusion done (for example giving away the chips to fellows, reraising pots etc.).

Other stuff needs to be cosidered, like how you want to do the split up. Certainly it would be neccessarily a trust thing. I wonder what others think? Have you already thought about the buy in level?

Hahah, or you could have a team sort of like a pitching staff of a baseball team... The tourney starter who's specialty is building you a chip lead; the middle reliever who is an expert at playing with a stack, the set up man who is able to perform in a final table and not make dumb mistakes; and the closer who specializes in short handed.

I agree with this post, but would like to again stress the improtance of NO COLLUSION. It can be tempting, and if applied correctly can even be profitable. But let's keep it real. Having a team certainly could do a lot for you in the long run. You could learn from each others mistakes, share notes, and just support each other. I would think you would want a group that are all pretty good tournament players (nothing like stating the obvious). By this I also mean that the team should really do its homework before it begins play. Try to make everyone on the team equal by everyone sharing all the information on tournament play they have. It would make no sense for all of you to blindly throw chips and buy-ins around in tournament play. The team, as in any team activity, should always come before the individual. The other problem I see is when one guy keeps finishing in the money when all the others do not. The one winning player may get tired of splitting his winning with a team he's gaining nothing from. Again, this may be able to be solved through team "meetings/practice" where information is exchanged.

I'd be interested in forming a team like this for internet pornography. I can't pitch all 9 innings if you know what I mean.

This is relatively common. I regularly play in large multi-table tournaments with friends, with an agreement to swap some percentage of our respective winnings.

It's a fun way to slightly reduce the variance, and is not generally frowned upon as long as you're not engaging in "team play" during the tournament.

I am not that great and I am still new to poker but I would be interested in this sort of thing.
