Good question. I don't see it in any of the FAQs, though it should be.

[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] You need to get the URL (address) of the post.

The URL of the post with your question is http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=0&Number=3987912 . You can see this in the address field of your web browser as you read a post. There is a different address for the individual post in threaded mode and for the whole thread in flat mode.

If you are using Internet Explorer, another way to get the URL of a post is to right-click on a link to the post and select "copy shortcut." This will put the URL in your clipboard. If you press Ctrl-V or select Edit:Paste it will produce the URL at your cursor. You can also view the properties of the link, and copy the URL from there.

One crude method is to type the URL in your post, which works for any URL: http://www.twodimes.net/poker . It was very bad if you have a long URL in this form, as the bulletin board software does not properly handle long strings of text without spaces. Some moderators will delete these URLs. The software might be able to handle it now.

A better method is to click on <u>URL</u> under the Instant UBB Code. This will let you enter the URL, and then type in whatever text you want for the link.

You can also copy a link from another post. Click on <u>Quote</u> but just copy and paste from the quoted text without posting a response.

Self-referential link.
