The definition of \"guaranteed\"
Hi all.
If you saw an advertisment for a guaranteed tournament at a card room, one that said "$500 dollar buy-in, $50,000 guaranteed tournament", would you not assume that the card room will pony up the $50k whether or not 100 players come to play? In other words, if the card room set a minimum amount of players required for the tourney at 100, should they take the word "Guaranteed" out of the ad? Brad

Yes, it's misleading, but they have an out.
If they say somewhere that the tournament must get at least 100 people to play, then by default they'll have at least a $50K prize pool. So, it's not necessarily wrong, but it's definitely misleading, to say it's a 50K guarenteed tournament.
