And I have to add that a laptop with a good screen, the power supply for it and 2 poker books really add to the weight of the luggage. That has become one of my main concerns about it really.

I'm interested in Thailand or the Philippines. Poker is illegal in both. I have heard that Party/skins will not let you play from a country where it is illegal. Is this true, or just more forum BS? If true, what sites WILL let you play where "illegal". Thanks

You cannot deposit or cash out on Party from Thailand. It checks for then rejects a Thailand IP address. You can however play poker.

There are a number of ways to getting around the deposit/cash out problem including getting someone else back home to do it, using an outside Thailand ISP or redirecting your browser traffic so it generates an outside Thailand IP address.

Always be folding

You cannot play Party/skins from the Philippines. At least I couldn't log in when I was there. I phoned Party and they confirmed that they do not accept logins from the Philippines.

However, there has got to be a workaround for that.

a buddy is planning on taking his girlfriend on a sabbatical to Thailand, and i am considering a job in Costa Rica. Internet access is obviously the key to eaning a living, and I can't quite imagine dial up.

This may be one of those situations like cable tv, where the rest of the world has better acces and infrastructure than the US. I sure hope so.

MicroBob - PM me before you visit my fine state of Colorado. I've been here for 25 years and can fill you in on the local hangouts and some of the best small towns in the state (Steamboat and Durango come to mind)
