Default 99 UTG

I felt very unsure this entire hand, wondering if I was just spewing chips. In general, I'm never too sure about these medium pairs in a poor position, where overcards are sure to hit.

With the A and Q of spades out there, I figured I had a decent drawing hand, so I felt as though becoming a calling station was my only option.

Please critique.

I don't really like the flop call, but having said that, bet teh river dude. He will probably check through with a lot of hands that will call your river bet (and lose). If he raises the river, you can get away.

True.

In fact, in retrospect, my thinking on the river play was completely flawed. I checked thinking "well, maybe he's been drawing with the K or A this whole time." And then I go and call without thinking twice. I'm trying hard to get away from that "limit my losses in case MHING" mentality -- it's not easy.

Just checking for any additional comments. It's so hard to get feedback around here before the post is bumped off the front page.

Why don't you like the flop call? Could villian be raising with something like AK or KJ without a spade? Maybe villian is raising with 2 pair? Once the 10s hits on the river I'd raise.

I would call the flop raise too. I'm not ready to give Villain credit yet for both a better hand and a better flush draw.

I'm no fan of this PFR. You have bad position post-flop and anyone who calls you is bound to have overcards at least, your opponents have a ton of outs against you collectively. You will rarely get your UTG PFR called by 4 people and still be good when this flop gets raised.
99 UTG is not a raise for these reasons IMO.

check/fold the flop, or at least fold to the raise. You're seeing this hand too far with little implied odds.
