Sanity check battle of the blinds hand

16 left in the Stars 11 rebuy. I'm around fifth with a ~500K stack and 15/30 blinds and have been running over a lot of people.

Folded to me in the SB and I raise K8o to 90K. The passive BB with 425K calls (he was on my right for most of the day and raised my blinds *once*/gave me about four walks).

The flop comes K93r. I check. He bets 90K (half the pot). I call him down now, right? (Also, would betting and folding to a raise be better?)

you are not folding this hand, no. But it is possible that you are raising or betting the river depending on his actions.

Well, let's try to look at this objectively. You raise
from the small blind and an unimaginative big blind calls. The flop arrives
and you check. How do you expect the big blind to
respond? There are 16 players left and despite how tight he might be when you check he perceives this as a green light to bet. With your check
after raising BTF good luck putting him on a hand. How can you possibly interpret what his bet represents? I can't, perhaps you can, I doubt it. Why didn't
you bet the flop? If you make a probe bet and he
calls at least you have some idea where you stand, he may have top or middle
pair or perhaps he called with Jacks or Tens.
But when you check it's impossible to put him on a hand.
Even the tightest player in the world will make
a play at the pot with nothing on occasion. You have put
yourself in the worst possible poker scenario, checking
and calling, against a player who seemingly doesn't make
plays at the pot. Check raising the flop is not a practical
option either, you don't have enough chips. From my perspective your best play is to bet the flop.

It's very unlikely that anything can happen to make me fold this hand postflop. Also the pot is just too large and the stakes are too high for me to give free cards at this point. Also if you give a free turn, you are also giving him the option of a free river. Way too many free cards at such a crucial juncture, so I would check raise the flop once you had the option available to you.

Also I would bet out the flop.

I actually checkraised and got shown KQ. It can't be all bad but I was debating it vs. check/calling down last night.

If I lead 120K and he raises I think I'd have had a pretty easy fold but against this guy I wanted more chips in the pot when it hit me that cleanly. Oh well.

I agree you have to lead this flop, but I don't think you have to lead for so much (120k). You can probably bet 75k and fold out a lot of hands. If he calls, you have to proceed judiciously, but you are still in control. A safe turn card; bet another 75k and check the river. You still have 260k after he turns over KQ.

If he raises the flop/turn, you can consider folding due to your read on him and continue on with a decent stack.
