Well Known Hardcore Band writes song about NLHE. analyze the hand
the band BANE ( a hardcore band from boston mass ) has a song on their latest cd called "one for the boys". they've had a few songs with poker refrences before but this one actually lays out an entire hand as a metaphor for life i guess. anyways this is the song and if you want to hear the band you can check them out here:
http://www.purevolume.com/bane I'm in the big blind With an average stack and an aggressive image The four seat limps right after me never a good sign He's been beating up the table showing down strong cards all night The maniac in the nine throws in another raise he loves to raise Confusing foolishness for courage and swinging on the vine I peek at my cards And decide I'm gonna defend the four seat does the same And we all buckle in for our favorite ride I'm first to act and bet the pot hoping to win it right then and there But the four seat calls and the maniac folds And I'm out of position with a lowly pair of two's The dealer burns and turns It is in this half second where life becomes perfect The mind a weapon Tomorrow's worries and yesterdays mistakes they crumble and fall away For now I'm on the wire I check, the four bets The trap snaps shut as I push my whole stack into the middle He shakes his head to let me know He doesn't have those dreaded pocket eights And sighs, "I have to call" The river comes that sexy, sexy Ace of spades And all is well in the world Now you wanna take a good man down? Send him back to his wallet to steam off another five hundred Well you just wink and show him threes up edit: at first i thought the hand was pot limit but i think he was actually just betting the pot |

Having a poker reference for an entire song is quite lame. And as a metaphor for life?....

Floorpunch has a song called let it ride which is about gambling, not poker in general, which is really awesome.

[/ QUOTE ] that song rules so hard even though its just about going to AC and wasting money. other guy: i don't think it's lame to use poker as subject matter for a song. if you listened to much hardcore and knew how bland the typical subject matter is you might be more appreciative. |

BANE rocks!! But this is a band that has also written a song about Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier boxing each other. It's more about taking everyday activities and applying them into a positive outlook for people.

Defending with 32 (soooted?)
when a strong player is closing the action is bad Betting out in the face of a strong player and a maniac is overly optimistic I would hate to see the strong player call the push I don't understand this metaphor |
