AK no pair against aggression
Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter
Villian is 53/12/1.07 over 60 hands or so. SB is TP/A Computing outs on the turn here is sketchy, to me anyways. Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero raises, SB calls, BB calls. Flop: (6 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, SB folds, BB 3-bets, Hero calls. Turn: (6 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero ? |

I think you gotta throw it away on turn.

Re: AK no pair against aggression
Excellent question. I've marked this as a favorite and am eager to see how others respond. In these situations, I'm at a loss as to how to judge the chances of opponent having a pair, 2 pair, a straight, a straight draw, a flush draw, a set, or nothing at all.

Re: AK no pair against aggression
I don't like to make these close calls when I can't raise the river if one of my outs hits. Therefore, I fold the turn.

Villian is 53/12/1.07 [/ QUOTE ] Villian, with a af of 1.07, is betting into and re-raising the preflop raiser. His aggression says he likes his hand a lot right now. If he had the flush or straight draw, would he have more likely to check/call or check/raise the flop? My guess is he has pair + draw on flop. I'd fold it. regards |

Re: AK no pair against aggression
I think it's OK to let this one go here and move on. However, a key piece of information here is pertinent past history of your steals against these guys. If you have been doing it liberally, it's time to call down - especially if they have fought back at you and been successful.
If it's early in the session and there IS no history to speak of, then I think it's best to fold here, but also remember to call down next time he fights back, as it will be more likely he's trying to push you around. -DrG |

Re: AK no pair against aggression
I know none of you math people are going to like this, but I actually either fold the re-raise on the flop or call the turn. The reasoning being that the BB isn't going to play at you with less than two pair (IMO) on the flop, so you are behind no matter what the turn card is. On the turn you've actually picked up a straight draw (albeit to tie) which you are getting 6 to 1 to draw to and if you thought your AK was good on the flop (i.e. villian had TPTK), then it is still good now.
