Default i don\'t like this situation, avoidable?

i didn't feel good as this hand was being played, and still don't know if there's any way this is avoidable. bad position and no read on the player. i figure i can't let go of this on the flop since since i am ahead of AA, KK, JJ-1010, but was there a different path preflop? anything wrong with the play overall?

The classic race...

I would say that you should re-raise pre-flop, but AK is going to call, so results are going to be the same.

When you buy-in for half, there is no way you should be dropping top set.

Oh well, you lost this time. Just re-buy. This is a profitable call.

That is exactly why you should reraise.

re-raising doesn't give me any more information i don't think. since most of the players at this level will still call the reraise with 1010, JJ, and with alot of the party players even AQ. AA and KK will still call a reraise (assuming they don't push) and i would still have to figure i'm ahead more times than not given this flop.

So re-raising doesn't give any more information, but it does put more money into the pot when you are a 3-1 or 4-1 favorite. So it's still a good thing.

As for your stack size, it doesn't matter whether you bought half or bought full and lost half. You have 50BB and top set; get your money in.
