Small set from UTG.
Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is UTG with 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: (5 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players) SB bets, BB raises, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, CO calls, SB calls $1.75 (All-In). Turn: (7.43 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players, 1 all-in) BB bets, Hero raises, UTG+1 3-bets, CO folds, BB calls, Hero caps, UTG+1 calls, BB calls. River: (19.43 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players, 1 all-in) BB checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, BB raises, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls. Final Pot: 25.43 BB Main Pot: 7.18 BB, between Hero, UTG+1, SB and BB. Pot 2: 18.25 BB, between Hero, UTG+1 and BB. Table was loose/passive preflop. I felt it was ok this time to limp 33 UTG. I didn't like the check-raise on the river, but surely I'm often enough against two pair here, so call is in place... What do you think of my flop play? /ode |

Re: Small set from UTG.
Looks fine. The only question is the flop smooth-call. Obviously, it worked out as you got UTG+1 and CO to come along too. Also, since SB will be all in soon, raising the flop isn't as much of a priority. If you lost to the runner-runner flush or a higher set, so be it.

Re: Small set from UTG.
I like it. Sometimes I would raise the flop in this situation to try and lose a few customers and often the people behind would cold-call the 3 bet anyway. But other times I would call the flop intending to jam it on the turn and jam/call on the river depending on what came off.
